Palais de l’Ile   The famous Island Palace

Le Palais de L’Ile was a prison, a court house and an adminstration center through out history. It is the most emblematic image of Annecy. It is The selfie background of Annecy. In 1900, it was listed as a historic monument. Certain parts of it date back to the 12th century.

Musée-Château d’Annecy : Annecy Castle Museum

Listed a historical monument since 1959, The Annecy Castle and the Geneva Counts residences from the 13th to 14th century. Also they have interesting temporary expos throughout the year.

Château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard :

This castle built between the 11th & 19th century has stayed in the same family since. You can discover the interior and it’s decor dating back to the Middle Ages. Costume parties are held on certain holidays and weekends.

Basilique de la Visitation :

Built between 1922 to 1930, the Basilique de la Visitation is the Chapel of the Visitation and where Francois de Sales (1567-1622) and Jeanne de Chantal (1572-1641) buried, the cofonders of the religious order Visitation.

There’s a big constrast between the interior decor (marble, stained glass and mosiac) to that of the exterior. Pope John Paul the Second visited in 1986.

Château de Montrottier:

This amazing castle houses remarkable and rare objects, furniture, weapons, from Africa and the Middle East collected by Léon Mares, one of the great collectors of the end of the 19th.

Professional guided tours (GPPS) last 1 :15.
For children : Middle Age visits from July 10th to August 28th, every Monday and Thursday 2 :30 – 4 :30 possible group prices.
